Clare Arni is a photographer born in Scotland, although a major part of her childhood was spent in India. She pursued her studies in the field of history of art, film and media studies from Scotland and began working with photography at the age of 22. Her work encompasses various genres, largely driven by the need to document the cultural heritage of India and living traditions and practices that are disappearing due to the effects of globalisation and urbanisation. Her work has been exhibited at spaces including Tarq Gallery, Mumbai; Essl Museum, Vienna, Austria; Grosvenor Vadehra, London; Berkeley Art Museum, California and is in the permanent collection of the Saatchi Gallery, London, the Freer/Sackler gallery of the Smithsonian Institute, Washington and Art Gallery of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia.
