Born 1984 in Shandong, China.
Lives and works in Beijing, China.
Fan Xi graduated from the Sculpture Department of the Central Academy of Fine Art (Beijing). Fan Xi’s visual practice is free and wide-ranging. From portraiture, architectural ruins, the wilderness and plants to self-made scenes and objects, her long-term game with subjectivity is full of dramatic tension. Her photography is on the opposite side of the “decisive moment”. Through her high-intensity observation and capturing of subjects, she emphasizes the relative stillness of objects in absolute motion. Fan Xi recently participated in shows at Gallery You Pin Space (Wuhan), Gallery Luisa Wang (Paris), Shanghai Exhibition Center, Wan Ying Art Museum (Shijiazhuang).
