Huang Jianpeng was born in Chengdu, Sichuan in 1964. He graduated from the department of Fine Arts in Nanjing Normal University. He is an art investor, curator, collector of photography, researcher in the field of photography in China, collector of key works from important photographers in the history of Chinese photography, founder of the HUANG JIANPENG Gallery and manager of Nanjing Compatriot Culture Advertising Co., Ltd.
Huang Jianpeng has begun collecting photography in 1992. Over 20 years, he has mainly collected and studied masters' works in China and the West, including many famous works from Tibet between the mid-19th century and 20th century. He launched the Photo Exhibition of Tibet (1950-1970) by Lan Zhigui at the National Art Museum of China as independent curator in 2009. In 2010, the exhibition Reviewing the Masterworks: a Selection of Ethnic Tibetan Related Photographic Artworks by Master Photographers Lan Zhigui and Zhuang Xueben was also made by him, still as independent curator. Since 1995 until now, HUANG JIANPENG Gallery has collected more than 1000 original works of key figures in the history of Chinese photography. Such as Liu Bannong, Chin-San Long, Chen Wanli, Zhuang Xueben, Wu Zhongxing, Wang Xiaoting, Zhang Yinquan, Guo Xilin, Huang Zhongchang, Hu Junlei, Qin Tailai, Hu Chongxian, Cai Juansan, Xue Zijiang, Chen Zhengqing, Wu Yinxian, Yuan Kezhong, Liu Xucang, Chen Chuanlin, Lu Shifu, Liang Zude, Lan Zhigui, Wu Yinbo, Yuan Ling, Zhang Qijun, Qi Guanshan, Fang Jianping, Ke Fu, Wang Yibo, Chen Fuli, Jian Qingfu, Lyu Xiangyou, Jiang Duo, Yao Jingcai, Shen Yun, Chen Leisheng, Zeng Xiangmin, Lyu Houmin, Hou Bo, Zhang Yixue, Wang Dong, Xu Kangrong, Li Yingjie, Wang Liping, Wang Dajun, Li Yuxiang and so on.
