A graduate from Sciences-Po and La Sorbonne, Jean Loh is a photography curator since 2005. From 2007 to 2018, he founded and ran the Beaugeste Gallery in Shanghai, where he organized exhibitions of Bruno Barbey, Patrick Zachmann, Lu Guang… He was the curator of Marc Riboud's retrospective in China (2010-2013, 14 cities). Loh is an active figure in the field of photography in China and Asia, who curated shows at Xie Zilong Museum (Changsha), Dali Photography Museum (Yunnan), Shenzhen and Pingyao photo festivals, Yangon Photo Festival (Myanmar). He is the editor and publisher of more than 20 photo books, including the recent The Color of China by Bruno Barbey (Post Wave, Beijing, 2019).
