Museum of Art & Photography (MAP)
The Museum of Art & Photography (MAP) is a new and progressive institute for the arts in Bangalore, South India. Its mission is to exhibit, interpret and preserve a growing collection of art and cultural artefacts, motivated by a belief that museums can play a positive role in society. It is the custodian to a growing collection of over 18,000 artworks, dating from the 12th century to the present – including Modern and Contemporary Art, Photography, Pre-modern Art, Textiles, Craft & Design, Popular Culture and Folk & Tribal Art. Currently under construction, its 44,000 sq. ft. site will include five galleries, an auditorium, research library, education centre, multimedia centre and a conservation lab specialising in the preservation and research of South Aisan photography. Whilst its programmes have been active since 2011, the museum will open to the public in 2020.
