2018 Jimei x Arles | Call for curatorial projects

2018 Jimei x Arles International Photo Festival launched its first public call for curatorial projects. It is intended for curators wishing to produce an unprecedented exhibition project with a relationship to Chinese photography.

Jimei x Arles features more than 30 exhibitions arranged in different sections: exhibitions from Rencontres d’Arles, China Pulse, Crossover Photography, Jimei x Arles Discovery Award, Collector’s Tale, Local Action and a special focus on an Asian country.

In 2018, Jimei x Arles is launching a call for curatorial projects for its China Pulse and Crossover Photography sections. It is open to all exhibition curators specialized in Chinese photography.

China Pulse is a series of exhibitions curated by China photography specialists. It aims at taking the pulse of current trends in Chinese photography. Whether collective or individual, the exhibition project shall refer to the photography medium in its diversity of forms (print, digital, video…).

Crossover Photography section invites curators to show the possibilities of photography on different media (print, video, digital, objects…) and in crossing cultural contexts. The project can be a collective or individual exhibition.

Each exhibition has a maximum space of 200-230 square meters, located in the main festival venue (Jimei Citizen Center).

Additionally, Jimei x Arles festival will cover travel expenses within China for the curator and one of the artists participating in the exhibition to attend the festival’s opening on November 23-25.
The chosen projects will be part of the 2018 festival exhibition program (November 23 to January 2).
