Oscar Motuloh (1959) is an Indonesian photographer who began his career in journalism at Antara News Agency in 1988, his first two years as reporter, then as photojournalist. He went then to Hanoi (1991) and Tokyo (1993) where he learnt more about photojournalism, as a self- taught photographer. Since that time, Motuloh for whom photography is a re ection of the societal needs of Indonesia, has never stopped to work actively in order to promote photojournalism and upcoming photographers. He is today the backbone behind the Galeri Foto Jurnalistik Antara (GFJA) founded in 1992, known as the only school cum gallery dedicated to photojournalism in Southeast Asia. He currently also manages the Antara Press Photo Agency. In addition to teaching photography at various universities in Indonesia, he has organized photo exhibitions, seminars and workshops, and published a variety of photo books.
