Early in his career, in 1959, René Burri joined the Magnum Agency. In 1963, he took his famous portrait of Che Guevara. He has photographed celebrities, including Giacometti, Le Corbusier, Tinguely, Picasso, Niemeyer… Vietnam War, Cuban crisis, China, Europe, America… René Burri is where history is in the making, demonstrating his acuteness in documenting the significant events of his century. In 2013, René Burri created a foundation within the Musée de l’Élysée for the conservation and promotion of his work in museums and among the public, both in Switzerland and around the world.
