Born 1985, Paris, France. Lives and works between Paris and Beijing, China.
Victoria Jonathan is co-director of Jimei x Arles International Photo Festival, created in 2015 by Rencontres d’Arles and Three Shadows Photography Art Centre in Xiamen (China), along with Bérénice Angremy. Together they founded Doors 门艺 Art & Culture Agency in 2017 to grow cross-cultural projects between Europe and China.
A graduate from Columbia University (East Asian Studies) and La Sorbonne (Philosophy), a former collaborator of Soundwalk art collective, Victoria Jonathan established in China in 2013, where she taught at Beijing University before joining the French embassy as head of communications. She has directed documentaries about Beijing’s art scene for French national radio station France Culture, and TV channel Voyage. She has collaborated as art director or producer on a number of projects with art institutions (Centre Pompidou, lille3000, UCCA), brands (Louis Vuitton, Estee Lauder, Chanel, Philippe Starck) and festivals (Caochangdi PhotoSpring – Arles in Beijing, Nuit Blanche).
